BEST MANAGEMENT PRACTICES:
CRP filter strip incentive program - $100.00 per acre, one-time payment
BMP installation – 75% cost-share with $10,000.00 maximum per practice
Waterway reseeding – 50% cost-share
Wetland restoration- $60.00 per acre for BMP construction
Rock inlet cost-share program – 75% cost-share
Farmstead and field windbreak incentive program - $100.00 per acre, one-time payment      
Field borders incentive program (alfalfa or native grasses, five year project life), at least 50% of the acres must be highly erodible land - $100.00 per acre, one-time payment
Living snow fence incentive program - $50.00 per acre, one time payment
Food plot incentive program - $50.00 per acre, (annual payment, minimum three-year project life)
Created wetland/flood storage/sediment basin cost-share program – 75% cost-share with $20,000.00 maximum per practice
Shoreline restoration program – 75% cost-share with $10,000.00 maximum per practice
Rain garden installation – 75% cost-share up to $2,000.00
Septic system incentive program – 10% up to $500.00.

LOW INTEREST LOANS:
The HLWD also offers low interest loans for septic system replacement, best management practices installation, and conservation tillage equipment.  Jan Voit, at the HLWD office in Heron Lake, handles these loans.
